This weekend, Athena Foods successfully shipped its first 25 tons of Colombian meat to Saudi Arabia, an important international market.
In this regard, Leandro Protzen, COO of Athena Foods Colombia, stated: “this is a very important step towards expanding the markets for the Colombian beef. This first container that arrived in Saudi Arabia will create an opportunity for the sector to develop, filling us with joy and commitment to keep working as a team, since this is also an accomplishment of the government, authorities of the sector, cattle producers and other meat companies.”
On December 10, the container left from Athena Foods’ plant in Ciénaga de Oro, Córdoba, where it was shipped to Cartagena by the company’s directors and employees, as well as some of the local authorities. Then, the container left the Regional Port Society of Cartagena on December 21.
Regarding the arrival of the Colombian meat in this important international market, which annually imports 108,000 tons of this product, Protzen added: “this is about more than a container. We are sending a message to the world and to ourselves, as a sector, that reminds us of the skills and unlimited potential we have when we join forces for a common purpose.”
